Amber mining in Lithuania

It is yet not clear if amber will be mined in Lithuania

Neringa mayor Darius Jasaitis made a statement that 112 tons of amber deposit should be used to popularize Lithuania as a tourist attraction, not for the narrow business interests. He criticized offers to leave only 5 hectares for tourism from more than 80. According to a plan the terms of an open international contest for amber mining will be announced sometime this month.
